Team reflection/rant
This project has been one of
the worst that I have ever done in my whole life. This is due to the team
breaking down and being absolutely horrible.
Nikki was put in the role of
team leader; however, she was the worst team leader we could have had. The
project began well, and we decided who was going to do what task, Nikki said
that she was going to be writing the script, the casebook and finding an actor.
She did not write a script and told us that it was going to be improvised on
the day that we were filming. Me, Sophie and Jo had all chased her multiple
times to make sure that she was going to complete the task, she told us that
she had made a draft the night before, however she turned up with nothing and
told us that it is going to be improvised.
She also did not find an
actor and didn’t tell us until the day before filming. This meant that we found
it difficult to find anyone at such short notice. Me and Sophie Knight were
only able to find someone because they were part of our class.
Her last task was to write
the casebook, however when it was sent to us it was incomplete, she had not
included any of the work about the posters, as well as any of the
pre-production work that everyone did, such as Pawel’s mock up drawings of the
characters.
She was also a bad leader
overall. During arguments she was not impartial and instead joined in on it. As
well as that she did not take control of the group, for instance when we were
filming she did not explain to the actor what to do, until we were in the
greenscreen room. She created a hostile environment overall, it felt like we
could not put any ideas forward or want to change anything because she would
tell us off for even suggesting it. Also, she would be very defensive when we
spoke in the group chat that the group had created, such as I asked for the
casebook, so I could look over it and she got really defensive and ended not
sending it to me.
Pawel had the tasks of
drawing 6 characters, and a cityscape. These were quite important to the video
as we wanted to show the 3 characters in the dystopian world, then have them
compared to how they looked in the utopian world. However, he only drew 3
characters, this is half of one of the tasks that he completed. Also, he did
not tell us that he was not going to be drawing the other characters or
cityscape until the week before we were handing the project in. The cityscape
was vital to both the video and the posters, meaning they were not able to be
finished until we had it. Sophie Knight had to draw it in one night, so we
would have enough time to finish the posters and video in time.
Cameron was given the task of
storyboarding the video, which he did complete, but we ended up not using. He
also made a logo, this was not his task, however I am grateful of him for
making it, as he was trying to do work unlike the other two people from his
class.
Jo had the task of filming
the video and editing it. She did not come in on the day of filming. She did
however edit the video and added after effects to it, which was a big job that
she had to complete in a week.
Me and Sophie Knight ended up
doing most of the work because the rest of the people did not do the tasks that
they were meant to. This project has been horrible because these people did not
complete their work and didn’t even tell us. If they had told us in advance we
could have helped.
