Filming

On the day of filming we had most things ready, so we had the greenscreen booked and the equipment hired. We did not however have an actor to be in our video, it was meant to be Nikki’s task to find one, but she was unable to. Me and Sophie K were able to get someone from our class to do it, Jacob Battersby.

When we got to the greenscreen the technician helped us to set everything up, including the camera, the sound and the greenscreen lights.

Another one of Nikki’s tasks was to write a script, however she decided last minute that it would be improvised instead. Then when we went into the greenscreen room she wrote some questions as guides and explained what the project was about to the actor, even though we had plenty of time stood outside waiting for the room to be cleared.

I did the sound recording, I had to make sure that it was recording and that the sound did not go too high, by turning a knob if the sound bar went into the red as this meant that it was too loud. I have never done sound recording before, so it was interesting to be able to.

Nikki did the camera work.

Me, Sophie K and Nikki all worked together to help direct the shoot and make sure that everything ran smoothly. However, Pawel and Cameron sat back and did not input very much, and Jo did not turn up.

Overall, Jacob did really well as our actor, he fit the role quite well and was able to be cheesy enough for the video. He was a bit confused at times because there was no script and he did not know if his improvising was what we all wanted.

During the shoot something we could have done better, is to have more shots and angles. When we wanted to get a closer shot, Nikki moved the whole camera and tripod forward instead of zooming in. Other than that, we did not get any other angles or zoomed in bits, which makes our video look quite bad and like we did not put a lot of effort into the filming.
